“Either you’re crazy, or you’re about to blow up.” A colleague spoke those words to me and my spirit-twin more than 10 years ago as she and I were stepping into the unknown for our respective lives. Well, I’ve learned that it takes both what might be regarded as craziness and it takes “blowuptuation” in order to bring the kind of transformation often needed to take our lives and the lives of others to the next level.
Blowuptuation is a term that was coined by one of my spiritual daughters. She was explaining to me that she could see and feel a tremendous shift and expansion happening in the way I think, vision, and live in the world. She is right! And what I know is that as I blowuptuate, the impact of the love I seek to bring in the world also expands exponentially, blowuptuatively.
Given that, I’ve decided to start a revolution. A revolution that is grounded in healing, well-being, forgiveness, and trust. It is a revolution fueled by a belief that every one of us – regardless of how we show up – is a unique manifestation of God. This revolution is counter to how the world operates, but it’s nothing new. It is the substance of the revolutions that Ghandi, King, Dalai Lama, Tubman, Jesus, Buddha, Winfrey, Lao Tsu, Mandela, and countless revolutionaries throughout history have inspired in their own eras, cultures, and across the world.
Truth is each one of us has the calling and the power to be revolutionaries in our lives. Each of us has the opportunity to blowuptuate in our own lives and to spark blowuptuation in the lives of countless others. In her book, A Return to Love, Marianne Williamson said, “And as you let your own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” That’s revolution, y’all!
The first level of revolutionary action is within our own hearts and minds. That is, the narratives that we have about ourselves and others. Then the next level is how we relate with ourselves and others in the small spheres of our lives – family, co-workers, classmates, neighbors, etc. When we take it to the next level, the revolution shows up in the degree of care and regard we have for strangers, people across the globe, and next generations.
If you are tired of the constant news about violence, poverty, war, and disease, start a revolution of peace, compassion, love, and healing right where you are. And then take it to the next level. Because this revolution is counter-cultural, some folks will think you’re crazy. Tell them, you’re about to blowuptuate to create something new that will bless us all.
